June is here, and so is something we have been praying toward: on Sunday, June 7, we launch Sown Together, our new intergenerational Sunday School — and we could not be more excited about what God is going to do through it.
This class is not just a new item on the calendar. It is a living expression of who we are called to be. As a congregation, we carry a vision of Bridging the Gap — actively building relationships with people in our community across generational divides, using technology as a bridge, and planting the seeds of the timeless Gospel for God to reap in His season. Our intergenerational Sunday School is that vision stepping off the page and into the room.
Think about what happens when a teenager and a grandparent open the same Scripture together. When a young adult hears wisdom earned over decades, and an older saint hears a fresh question that reopens a passage they thought they knew. When someone who grew up with a smartphone and someone who did not find that they need the same Savior. These moments do not happen by accident. They happen when a church is intentional about creating the space for them — and that is exactly what we are doing on June 7.
We live in a world that constantly separates generations from one another — different classrooms, different platforms, different rhythms, different reference points.
The church has a beautiful opportunity to be different. To be the place where those divides are not just acknowledged but bridged — through shared worship, shared study, and the shared experience of walking with God together.
So we warmly invite every generation in this congregation to be part of this from the very first Sunday. Come ready to listen as much as to speak. Come ready to learn from someone whose life looks nothing like yours — and to discover, perhaps, how much you have in common. The harvest God is growing in our community will be tended by many hands, across many years. Our Sunday School is one more place where that work begins.
We will see you June 7. Come be part of the bridge.
In Christ,
Pastor Tom Vanderbilt
